Ramp Ladder

     in the ship design ladder arrangement and structural design is very important content, because it has a close relationship with the safety, it should ensure that:

① live in the residence of the personnel can easily access;  

② live in the premises of the personnel easy to reach the open deck;

③ in case of emergency, live in the premises of the personnel easy to reach the lifeboats, rafts boarding deck.    

 It is a basic principle that all kinds of ladders used on the ship shall be made of steel or equivalent materials approved by the competent authority.  

 Ladders for passenger premises inside passenger ships shall be designed in accordance with the specifics of the cabin arrangement and shall comply with the provisions of the relevant rules.     The ladderways of ships other than passenger ships and of non-passenger premises of passenger ships shall be set up in accordance with the following principles:

1. Ladderways of habitation premises shall be configured in accordance with the specifics of cabin arrangement, the gradient of the ladder shall be between 45°~55° and in any case shall not be greater than 60°, the width of the ladderway shall not be less than 800mm, the vertical spacing of the treads shall not be greater than 250mm and the depth of the treads shall not be less than 173mm, and the treads shall be fitted with Anti-skid device.

2. The width of inclined ladders inside compartments and on open decks other than living premises shall not be less than 600mm, and the inclination shall be between 50°~60°, and ladders with an inclination of 65° or more shall not be used as ladders frequently used by personnel, and the rest of the requirements shall be the same as those in the first article of this sub-section.    

3. Whether it is a straight ladder or an inclined ladder, an intermediate platform should be provided when the length is too long, and fixed lugs should be added in the middle of the length of the ladder frame.

4. Inclined ladder should be equipped with handrail, and the straight ladder frequently used by personnel should also be equipped with handrail.  

5. The arrangement of ladder way and the choice of ladder should be coordinated with the ladder opening. Usually the width of the opening size of the ladder opening should be at least 150mm wider than the width of the ladder, and the length of the ladder opening varies according to the slope of the inclined ladder.

6. In addition to a small hatch cover or manhole cover of the ladder opening, other ladder opening must be set up around the enclosure, to prevent the deck of the water or objects through the ladder opening down to the next deck or affect the personnel up and down.  

7. The upper end of the ladder in the cabin can not be directly fixed by welding method on the outer plate of the ship, must try to weld fixed on the bottom frame.

8. The inclined ladders in the living quarters and in the engine room should be provided with dust panels.
